The Surf Shed

This funky island business located across from the Community Square rents bikes, surf boards and golf carts. They will also do bike repair. In the summer they are open 10 a.m. until dark. Off season they’re open when the weather is nice!

Tree Top Studio

Down a meandering sandy lane, Tree Top Studio features only the work of local artists. The gallery is filled with paintings in a variety of mediums. It is also a professional picture framing shop. Look for the big “Open” flag on Back Road.

Enjoy the mobility and breezes generated by one of the colorful scooters available by the hour or day at the Anchorage Marina. Helmets are provided.

Windfall Schooner

The 57’ gaff-rigged schooner Windfall sails twice daily from the Community Store dock in historic Ocracoke Village. Afternoon pirate cruises sail through the very spot where Blackbeard was killed in 1718. Capt Rob can weave tales with the best of the island storytellers so be prepared for stories, poems, jokes and pirate booty for the small fry in your party. An hour sail is $20 for adults and $10 for children younger than 12; children younger than 3 sail for free. Longer sunset trips are $25 for all ages. Reservations are recommended. The vessel is also available for private charters and weddings.

Xcite Bike

While you are visiting the Community Square, you will notice a small shop on the right-hand side of an old-fashioned building on the harbor. This small shop called Xcite Bike sells motor scooters. Try out this open-air version of island touring!
